Alphonso Mango – The King of Mangoes

Also known as - 'King of Mangoes', Hapus or Ratnagiri

Origin - India or Malawi

Preparation - Ready to eat once the mango yields to gentle pressure.

Wash the mango first.

Quite simply, one can peel back the skin and eat the mango flesh directly from the central seed.

Alternatively, cut long ways along each side of the seed to separate the mango into 3 pieces. With a spoon, scoop the flesh from the two outer pieces. The flesh surrounding the seed shouldn't be wasted! Scrape off with a spoon or eat the mango flesh directly from the central seed.

You may also use the 'hedgehog' method to prepare honey mangoes - score longways and crossways on the outer pieces and turn inside out to reveal many cubes of mango which can be easily removed from the skin.

Usage - Eat straight out of hand or use to add some tropical flavour to any number of food and drinks recipes!

Ripen at room temperature. Once the mango yields to gentle pressure it is ripe, and should be refrigerated to prevent spoiling.

Average weight - One alphonso mango usually weighs approximately 200-300g.

Seasonality - Our Indian Alphonso mangoes are usually in season from March until May/June.

We can ocasionaly also source Alphonso mangoes from Malawi in the autumn.

This selection isn't packed in our gift boxes although we do offer the chance to get a complimentary handwritten gift message should you want to gift it.

We offer next day delivery on all orders placed between Monday and Friday before 3pm. Orders placed over the weekend are dispatched on Monday. Deliveries are an all day service and the Courier will provide a time slot on the day.

Due to the perishable nature of the product we do not offer any returns although we are more than happy to mediate any issues you may encounter. We recommend you contact us within 24hrs of receiving your order. Our main priority is that our customers have an enjoyable experience.
