The Perfect Summer Smoothies With Nutritious Exotic Fruits

It’s been the ideal summer for refreshing and nutritious smoothies. A chilled drink packed with fruity goodness is the perfect way to begin a long hot day — not only is it a delicious treat, but it provides a healthy and sustainable energy source. However, it’s worth looking beyond the usual ingredients of bananas and strawberries.

If you’ve recently had the pleasure of an exotic fruit box delivery, then you have some vibrant flavours, striking colours and dense nutritional value at your fingertips. Here are some suggestions for some fun and goodness-packed summer smoothie recipes.

Dragon Fruit & Pineapple Smoothie

Dragon fruit (pitaya) not only has a vibrant red or yellow colour, but it’s also packed with antioxidants. The delicate sweetness pairs beautifully with the slightly tarter flavour of pineapple. To make it, you’ll need the flesh of one dragon fruit with a cup of fresh pineapple chunks, and 150ml of coconut water or oat milk.

Add a few drops of lime juice for some extra zinginess if required. Blend together for a fabulous pink drink that will be the star of any summer party.

Lychee & Coconut Cream Smoothie

For an indulgent and silky smooth treat, pair the subtle floral flavour of lychee with the creaminess of coconut milk. You’ll need eight to ten fresh lychees, half a banana and 200ml of coconut milk. If you want to add some extra sweetness, just drizzle in a little honey. Blend until silky smooth, and add the finishing touch with a sprinkle of shredded coconut.

Papaya, Ginger & Mint Cooler

Papaya and ginger are both natural digestion aids, and when combined with mint they make a lovely soothing summer drink. Ideal if you have overdone the rosé the night before! To make, simply blend chopped papaya, a cube of diced fresh ginger, some muddled mint leaves and 150ml of chilled coconut water.
